The Skin Care Benefits of Kakadu Plum

Last week, Seed launched a brand new product: Aging Beautifully Face Serum. This oil-based facial treatment is designed for nearly every skin type in mind, whether it be oily, dry, sensitive, acne-prone or with the visible signs of skin aging.

We're going to spotlight the special ingredients used in this serum so you can learn why each one was chosen to be used in our formulation.

This week's Ingredient Spotlight is on Kakadu Plum.

What is Kakadu Plum Extract?

Kakadu Plum (Terminalia Ferdinandiana) is a sour green fruit that is native to Australia. Small in size, this fruit contains 55 times more Vitamin C than an orange. While it is hard to fine, Kakadu Plum has been creating quite a buzz lately in the skin care industry because of its many benefits. It is safe to say that using Kakadu Plum is not just a passing fad. You'll be seeing a lot more of this ingredient as more and more solid research comes out.

What Are the Skin Care Benefits of Kakadu Plum Extract?

  • Kakadu Plum contains a potent blend of antioxidants. In addition to Vitamin C, Kakadu Plum boasts an abundance of Ellagic and Gallic Acids. Ellagic Acid helps to improve skin elasticity, while Gallic Acid aids with skin barrier restoration. Other antioxidant benefits include protecting skin from UV damage and other environmental contaminants.
  • Kakadu Plum has anti-fighting properties. As it is both anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, this ingredient helps to minimize acne flare ups and may lessen the redness and swelling associated with many different types of breakouts.
  • The potent Vitamin C in this natural extract helps to brighten dull skin, boosts skin collagen, and may help to firm the skin.
  • Kakadu Plum is beneficial for all skin types, from ultra sensitive to dry to oily and breakout prone.
