Let's talk about the safety of our ingredients
We believe ingredients matter.
If you are conscientious about the ingredients you and your family use in skin care and cosmetics, you are likely aware of the Skin Deep Database of the Environmental Working Group (EWG).
You will also know that our body care products are listed in Skin Deep and score very well. Ingredients -- safe, high quality ingredients -- are very important to us here at Seed. They always have been. Back in 2011, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics named us a Brand Champion (find us under Graine de Vie/SEED in their listings), which means that we met the following criteria:
- Complied with the European Union’s Cosmetics Directive, widely considered the global gold standard of cosmetics safety regulation.
- Disclosed all ingredients, including chemicals in “fragrance,” a complex mix of ingredients found in 40 percent of all personal care products; in the U.S., the components of “fragrance” can be shielded as a trade secret, even when the chemical cocktail contains hormone disruptors, carcinogens and other harmful substances.
- Published and regularly updated product information in Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep cosmetics database so that consumers had ready, online access to listings of all product ingredients.
- Complied with any additional ingredient prohibitions and restrictions under the Compact for Safe Cosmetics and substituted ingredients of concern with safer alternatives.
- Participated in the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

Let's look at the safety of our ingredients
You can find our body care products and their safety ratings in the Skin Deep Database. Click here for Seed Body Care in the Skin Deep Database. We are very proud of our safety scores. Our products are in the "green zone", all earning between a 1-2. The lower the score, the better and you really can feel confident when your products are in the green color zone.
We have been asked recently why some of our products are not yet listed in the Skin Deep Database. To be 100% candid, right now some of them cannot be listed. You see, to be considered, a company must list all ingredients right on the bottle and we do not. YES, we disclose all ingredients to you and very openly! Every single ingredient is listed on the website. With our facial care, we include ingredient cards in each package.
This makes the products available at an affordable price point without sacrificing the quality of ingredients, raising prices, or wasting the earth's valuable resources.

I drank soda pop instead of water. I made Pop Tarts in my dorm room and ordered pizza regularly. Eat as many fresh, whole foods as you can and drink lots of water. Your skin will benefit from this.
