Seed Body Care for Stretch Marks

June 24, 2015

"For stretch mark prevention and belly itch relief, I swear by Seed body oil, body cream and body lotion! What I love is that it doesn't contain parabens, phthalates, and you can chose a fragrance free option!"

The above quote was spotted on a baby forum the other day. It was so humbling to see our line of skin care raved about by the mothers online. As a mom -- my baby turned ten yesterday and I also have an eleven year old - I can tell you that stretch marks are a concern for so many. I gained about 30 pounds with my first pregnancy. Then I lost 25 or so after I had him. As soon as I lost the baby weight, I found out we were expecting baby #2 and gained back 27 pounds. Not long after I had baby #2, I fell down the stairs, breaking my leg. I spent weeks in a wheelchair and then crutches and a walking cast. I felt so down in the dumps and ended up coping with that by consuming nearly a pint of creme brulee flavored ice cream every night. I gained back all of the baby weight and then some.

Eventually, I lost a total of about 65 pounds and am at a healthy weight. The ups and downs of pregnancies and weight gains and losses caused quite a bit of skin stretching. This naturally resulted in stretch marks all across my belly.

Not just on the belly, stretch marks are often found around the breasts, upper thighs and hips. They are hidden under our clothes, so why should it matter?  The truth is, we all want to have beautiful skin, whether it is so we can feel confident in swimwear or just feel happy when we look in the mirror. While you CANNOT completely erase stretch marks, these 4 natural ingredients may just help improve the look of your skin!

Grape Seed Oil

Simply search the web for "oils for stretch marks" and you will see thousands of results for Grape Seed Oil -- and with good reason! Many people may find fading of stretch marks by using products rich in Grape Seed. In fact, applying products with Grape Seed is one of the most recommended stretch mark remedies there is. While there isn’t any scientific evidence proving that it works specifically to reduce stretch marks, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence. Each and every product we offer is formulated with Grape Seed!

Shea Butter

Shea butter is another ingredient believed to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Actress, mom and model Molly Sims has called shea butter her "ultimate weapon against stretch marks." This ultra nourishing ingredient smooths and moisturizes deeply. Find it in all of our lotions and creams.

Coffee

This one is a simple remedy made from something you may have sitting in your coffee maker right now -- coffee grounds. Applying coffee grounds to your skin as an exfoliating body scrub may yield results when it comes to reducing the appearance of stretch marks.  Combine a small amount of warm water or aloe vera juice with a generous helping of coffee grounds and massage into skin. Caffeine revs up skin circulation and has been shown to make cellulite less visible--at least temporarily.  The same may apply to stretch marks. You can also look for s store bought coffee scrub, but it is easy peasy -- and affordable -- to make your own.

Apricot Kernel Oil

Apricot kernel oil is chock full of beneficial nutrients--from Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids and Vitamin E and plant strerols. Phytosterols have been shown to help repair scarring and pigmentation spots. It may even help to boost collagen.  Using products with this oil as a body massage product each day may help to reduce the visible signs of stretch marks. Find apricot oil in our body oils.
